Workplace Safety & PPE
Uniform (regulated)
- Orange short/sleeveless top with rescuer badge — large on back, small on right sleeve and left chest
- Orange shorts/long trousers with badge front-left
- Orange swim attire with small badge
- Orange peaked cap with badge on both sides
- Orange band ≥12 cm wide on left sleeve when wearing long sleeves
Personal protective equipment
- Sunglasses, sun hat
- Whistle
- Belt pouch with: protective gloves, CPR face-shield film, pocket mask
Glove removal sequence
Pinch and fold the upper edge of one glove with the other gloved hand (do not touch skin). Pull it inside-out toward the fingers. Then slip two fingers under the inside of the second glove and pull it off the same way. Discard in marked bin. Wash hands with soap and warm water; disinfect if needed.
After unprotected contact with blood/fluids
- Wash the contaminated area with soap and water thoroughly
- Write an incident report and inform your supervisor
- Follow workplace safety procedures (medical follow-up if needed)

- Rescue rings or rescue balls
- Rescue tubes
- Whistles
- Communications (phone or radio)
Additional gear at natural bathing areas
- Megaphone
- Free-diving equipment
- One short neoprene suit
- Rescue ropes with figure-8
- Rescue boards or mats
- Rescue craft if the swim line is >50 m from shore
